There is empty space on the right is because I edited out some of the original text. It simply referenced the Rodin show being exhibited locally. Like many of my editorial comics, there were multiple captions and options for text and dialogue. I teasing jabbed at possible conservative reactions to the show, the lewd indiscretion of "The Kiss". I also had thumbnails with notes that played with the idea of making "The Thinker" jealous of the couple in "The Kiss".

This was one of my first editorial comics, definitely pre-9/11 when a lot of my work started getting political. The lines are much more straight ~ forms blocky, the earlier you go in my collection. Drawn in 2001, on a smooth Bristol board with a 0.5mm HB mechanical pencil, using a vinyl erasure. Drawing time ~ approx 30 minutes.

LOL, thanks for the compliments, not the best composition, but there was a good idea in there. My city is very religiously conservative but with a very vocal secular minority.

I actually had several editorial comics and comic ideas pirated by the local city paper. Didn't bother me at the time though, I took it as a compliment and in one case, they simply drew out the idea better than I did.
