Combat Series 1

More or less, a completed Intaglio Print. The original is about 10 inches tall, by say ~ 6 inches, I haven't measured it so I'm not sure. This particular print was still technically a working proof, since I hadn't made a full print run and still have the untouched, original plate. When final print editions are actually made, an artist will typically mark the original plate, making it unusable for further runs.

Honestly though, this was not intended to be anywhere near the final print design and I'm not sure I would have ever run a full print edition. My interests were in developing a series of drawings, paintings and perhaps prints too, which all related to the combative male. To this day, I am still fascinated by the figure, both male and female, but would love to do an all male series relating to masculine aggressiveness.

I will scan in some of my sketch book that relates to this series of prints. For a period of several months, I researched and drew male combative figures. I even have some rough paintings, which I have yet to finish with the same, or similar, subjects in them. A large portion of this series was left incomplete when I took a long break from my artistic studies, several years in fact.
